Why it matters
A2A solves a different problem from MCP: it is not an agent calling a tool and getting an immediate answer, it is an autonomous agent delegating a whole, potentially long-running task to another agent to finish on its own. It matters for the emerging scenario of agents negotiating and orchestrating tasks among themselves with no human in the middle. Because A2A receives tasks from external agents that may take time to complete, a real implementation must treat each incoming task as untrusted input — with authentication, rate limiting and timeouts — just as it would treat a public API call, since that is exactly what it is.
