Why it matters
Agent Skills (agentskills.io) is the open skill format: a folder with a SKILL.md that an agent loads when a task calls for it. For the web, discovery is defined by the Agent Skills Discovery RFC (Cloudflare): the site publishes /.well-known/agent-skills/index.json, validated by the agentskills.io discovery 0.2.0 schema, listing each skill with name, type, description, url and digest. An agent that reaches the domain can then find out what the site teaches it to do without relying on scattered documentation. The standard is still an evolving RFC (schema version 0.2.0), not a settled norm.
